A lot of people predicted that West Indies ODI side will not pose much of a challenge to the number one ODI team in the world. Well four matches gone and West Indies VS England ODI series which concluded today was a hell of an affair. The two sides gave their all with new stars emerging and old ones playing to their reputation. Ultimately the series was drawn 2-2 with one match abandoned due to rain. If schedule allowed and two cricketing boards heard public appeal then we could have had another game which both the teams truly deserve. Nonetheless, we have a 3 match t20 series coming up.
The highlights of the ODI series were:
- Gayle blitzkrieg which went throughout the series
- Joe roots hundred in the first ODI
- Jason Roy’s Hundred in the first ODI
- Hetmeyrs Hundred in the second ODI
- Sheldon Cottrell’s five wicket haul in the second ODI
- Eoin Morgan and Jos Butlers Partnership in the fourth ODI
- Adil Rashid’s five wicket haul in the fourth ODI
- Mark Woods exceptional fast bowling
- Carlos Braithwaite coming into force
- Oshane Thomas five wicket haul in the fifth ODI
With the ODI series over West Indies will be hoping that the English do not take any happy memories with them. They already lost the test series and with Chris Gayle galvanized eyeing t20 series will not be farfetched. They have a great batting line up and bowlers who give their all. One change that the Windies should make is get in Andre Russel for Devendra bishoo if their is no turn on offer or for Ashley nurse as the former is a better hitter.
England on the other hand will look for a combination from the same group of players as well. Sam Curran will replace Moeen Ali who had a forgettable series.
WHY THE t20 SERIES PROMISES TO BE A CRACKER
The series will definitely be high on entertainment. Basically the West Indies is an explosive side with players who can’t stay quiet for long. They have either score wildly or collapsed but with Jason Holder at the helm collapses have stayed at bay. Furthermore they are playing with renewed determination and if are not going at high speed take to sensible cricket.
England are a side with pure class. The batting line up is one of the world’s best and with the return from injury of Mark Wood they have a world class bowler to spearhead their attack. The problem for them can be other bowlers who need to be more cautious of their line and length. Besides they are hoping to find a permanent solution for this before world cup.
In conclusion, there will be a lot of runs, some world class catches and stump shattering bowling which is why you should definitely watch this 3 match t20 series.
