It seems very likely that a new feature will be added to what’s app to prevent users from being added to groups without their permission. The feature is currently being tested on the IOS beta version of the app. It will give users more control over groups on the app.
WhatsApp recently started the beta programme for IOS. The group invitation feature can be tested out by WhatsApp beta users on IOS. They can download the test flight app. At the same time they will join WhatsApp beta programme that will prevent them from being added to groups without their permission.
Whats new about WhatsApp Groups
The newly developed group invitation on WhatsApp comes with three options for groups. Users who want to be added to groups by just about anyone can select the option which reads ‘Everyone’. Likewise the option my contacts will allow only your contacts to add you to a group. Moreover, if you choose ‘nobody’ then a request will be sent to you by the admin to join the WhatsApp group. The request has an expiry time of 72 hours.
The latest feature can be found in the settings menu under Account> privacy>groups. It is quite similar to WhatsApp’s privacy control for last seen, profile photo, about and status update. Currently, WhatsApp offers the option to mute groups for 8 hours, 1 week or a year. The users can disable the notifications and archive group chats as well.
However, the introduction of this new feature will have stricter control over groups on the app.WhatsApp has also launched the beta version of its business app named WhatsApp business which allows businesses to connect with consumers through the messaging app’s platform. Last January it was available only for android users but soon it can be launched for IOS users as well.
